Ranking up there with the chicken & egg dilemma, "tubes vs. transistors" is the aficionado equivalent to "analog vs. digital" and "LPs vs. CDs". With most of my current listening experienced with MP3s, all of these details are lost in the tinnitus and background noise, from air conditioning to the refrigerator to outside traffic.
But!
Just yesterday, I was invited to the home of a neighbor, whom I met at a recent 4th of July party and kindred spirit in the audiophile realm, for a listening experience of his extraordinary system made up of Dunlavy loudspeakers with Krell amplification and a CD player from the 'Jupiter sulfur mines' (thanks Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Chile!"). My neighbor suggested that I carry along my 'favorite CDs', which was like a gourmet chef asking me to bring along my box of Cherrios. I was humbled!

500 million is what Apple, Google and Samsung will offer Kodak for patents that Kodak supposedly told someone...these are worth 2 billion. I wonder if the estate manager gets to negotiate?
