Introducing – Tools for Cinema Quality Assurance

Cinema Test Tools for the Non-Technical Manager

Cinema Test Tools is a free resource for the cinema industry, tuned most particularly for the non-technical manager. The tools include several DCPs, all with interesting means of testing the sound and picture quality for the interested by lightly trained staff. The lessons on sound and light are written to provide a foundation to communicate with the technician who must respond quickly and well to the information that they discover.

The key is a free Online Managers Online Walk Through Checklist that correlates with the many DCPs. It helps bring an understanding of the many nuances of the auditorium's situation in a straightforward way.

There is a right way to do this and a wrong. There is faster and there is more faster. There are security issues and return on investment issues.

IEEE (MSST2010) Symposium on Massive Storage Systems Papers Available

The recently completed 26th IEEE (MSST2010) Symposium on Massive Storage Systems and Technologies Conference has made the papers available.

Anyone interested in storage can benefit from one or more of these. [Your editor's favorite is a proposed Linear Tape File System. Wouldn't it be great to have an open standard in the LTO5 mechanics space, with attached RAIDs?]

MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems is introducing the openGear compatible HD-4400 four-channel fiber optic transport system at IBC 2009 (Stand 2.A54). This high density, multirate, 3G HD-SDI SMPTE fiber optic transport system with a 4x4 matrix on both the transmitter and receiver is one of the first products MultiDyne has designed as part of its participation in the openGear terminal equipment platform group.

Founded by Ross Video, the openGear platform is based on an open architecture, 2RU modular frame designed to accommodate up to 10 cards in the DFR-8310 frame and up to 20 cards in the DFR-8320 frame. The HD-4400 will give customers another option for fiber optic transport without the need to invest in multiple frame standards.
