  • Slide One

Hello; this presentation reviews the structure and highlights

    of a

    • Post Installation
    • Self Compliance
    • Quality Assurance System

that is built around the needs of the projection and engineering portions of the modern cinema facility.

  • System Highlights

This software tool is meant to replace the “Pro from Dover” method of QA by using structure developed and known as ISO 9000/9001.

By their nature, that structure requires that an entire facility and all employees and all their tasks be ISO Compliant. In this system, we’re strictly focused on only the projection and engineering sections of the cinema. Thus, we must say, ‘in the style of’.

  • Premise

ISO 9000 is a family of standards that focus on Quality Management, and is meant to help

establish a way to communicate to vendors and users regarding the level of quality that a facility aspires to, and how they insure that it happens. ISO 9001 is the system used by businesses to alignn with the appropriate standards.

  • Basic Description

9001 allows for self-compliance, presuming that the staff is trained for this purpose and that the structure

allows Quality Management to permeate the organization, with a direct report from the Office of the CEO to the Quality Assurance Team. The structure that the team uses is a logical (self-determined) set of inspections of their equipment and processes based around a well maintained inventory system.

Introducing – Tools for Cinema Quality Assurance

Cinema Test Tools for the non-Technical Manager – Post Installation Quality Assurance Has Begun

Cinema Test Tools is a free resource for the cinema industry, tuned most particularly for the non-technical manager. The tools include several DCPs, all with interesting means of testing the sound and picture quality for the interested by lightly trained staff. The lessons on sound and light are written to provide a foundation to communicate with the technician who must respond quickly and well to the information that they discover.

The key is a free Managers Walk Through Checklist that correlates with the many DCPs. It helps bring an understanding of the many nuances of the auditorium's situation in a straightforward way.

CinemaCon 2015, Dolby Cinema and their new HDR Laser Projector

One of the most exciting presentations this year at CinemaCon 2015 was the first showing of the Dolby Cinema Laser Projector to the public – in the form of the CinemaCon attendees. It was a memorable event as viewers “gasped” when they were shown the difference in contrast/black level ...
