Cinema Test Tools for the non-Technical Manager – Post Installation Quality Assurance Has Begun

Cinema Test Tools is a free resource for the cinema industry, tuned most particularly for the non-technical manager. The tools include several DCPs, all with interesting means of testing the sound and picture quality for the interested by lightly trained staff. The lessons on sound and light are written to provide a foundation to communicate with the technician who must respond quickly and well to the information that they discover.

The key is a free Managers Walk Through Checklist that correlates with the many DCPs. It helps bring an understanding of the many nuances of the auditorium's situation in a straightforward way.

Tutorial VPN and Software for...

If you work for a large corporation, you are probably already familiar with the extra steps and heartache and benefits of using a VPN service between you and the mothership.

But us peasants? Most often it is known as a absolutely needed requirement that can be put off until ...well, some important until. Here are two links to an excellent explanation of everything to consider in choosing a VPN – under the disguise of Best VPN Providers of September/2017 and a lesson on what to look for in a when choosing a VPN access tool, Hotspot Shield Review - Updated 2017 (disguised as a write up about the VPN app Hotspot Shield.)

Security News – RSA

While the SMPTE Quarterly was establishing several interesting tangents (sorry, they're secret until fully developed and voted on...you can be a voter if you just click on the membership link and the Standards Committee link and follow the path to payment and enlightenment), the RSA Conference was meeting just up the Bay.

Here's an excellent synopsis, but really, go to the bottom for the links: RSA 2016 Synopsis
